Pappu Yadav demands Rs 5,000 crore in relief for Bihar floods
Independent MP Pappu Yadav has criticized the flood relief efforts in Bihar, specifically within the Chhapra region. Yadav alleged a significant lack of essential supplies, including generators, medical facilities, community kitchens, hand pumps, and polythene sheets in the affected areas.
During a three-day visit to Chhapra, Yadav claimed he had to personally arrange for bathroom facilities, polythene sheets, and over 50 generators along the embankment. He demanded that the Central government provide Rs 5,000 crore in relief assistance and called for the resignation of the Irrigation Minister. Additionally, he urged authorities to blacklist Shriram Construction and file FIRs against contractors involved in irrigation works.
In response to the crisis, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has directed the Disaster Management Department to ensure the timely delivery of relief materials to inaccessible areas in the Saran district, including special air-dropping operations.
