Papua New Guinea athletes prepare for international competition
Papua New Guinea is preparing for significant international sporting engagements. The Public Servants Netball Association (PSNA) has announced that its Masters Team 40+, consisting of twelve senior women from various government departments, will compete in the Pan Pacific Masters Games in Australia from November 6 to 15. The PSNA is currently seeking corporate and government sponsorship to cover travel, accommodation, and registration costs for the self-funded team.
In rugby league, a restructured Papua New Guinea Prime Minister’s XIII squad is set to face Australia at the Santos National Football Stadium in Port Moresby. Led by captain Sylvester Namo and coach Wellington Albert, the team features a new generation of players primarily drawn from the Digicel ExxonMobil Cup. The match serves as a critical testing ground for emerging talents ahead of the upcoming Rugby League World Cup.
