Papuan local governments tighten civil servant discipline

Local governments in Papua are intensifying efforts to improve the discipline and performance of civil servants (ASN) and regional apparatus organizations (OPD).

In Mimika, the regency government has emphasized the need for strict discipline to ensure optimal public services. Dr. Ir. Yohana Paliling, representing Regent Johannes Rettob, urged all OPDs to accelerate the completion of essential documents and reports. Key priorities include the settlement of the 2026 Revised Budget (RAP Perubahan), the RAP SILPA, and the monitoring of the second stage of Special Autonomy (Otsus) funds. Some departments have reportedly failed to meet their reporting obligations, prompting calls for immediate updates.

Similarly, in Jayapura, Mayor Abisai Rollo has warned that OPDs will face evaluations if they fail to adhere to scheduled event times. The Mayor noted that punctuality is a form of respect for others and a core component of discipline. He stated that if activities do not commence at the time specified in invitations, the responsible departments will be reviewed, suggesting that organizers should better account for preparation time when scheduling.
