Pará municipalities boost maternal care with hospital certification and new gestante card

The Municipal Hospital Daniel Gonçalves in Canaã dos Carajás received the Ministry of Health's "Hospital Amigo da Criança" designation, becoming the first child‑friendly municipal hospital in the southern and southeastern regions of Pará. The certification recognises the hospital's humanised, evidence‑based maternal‑infant care, including qualified prenatal, delivery and post‑natal services.

In Parauapebas, the municipal health department launched a new "Cartão da Gestante" that replaces a decade‑old paper record. The card records consultations, exams, vaccinations and adds fields for early detection of syphilis and toxoplasmosis. The rollout, attended by the city’s first lady Beatriz Ramos, aims to improve the continuity and safety of prenatal care for local mothers and infants.
