Pará police delegate arrested in Brasília for suspected PCC ties

Maria Virgínia Grimwood Pinto, a civil police delegate from Pará, was arrested in Brasília during ‘Operação Sinalagma’. She is suspected of receiving R$ 50,000 via Pix to provide confidential information and institutional protection to members of the criminal organization Primeiro Comando da Capital (PCC).

The investigation, led by the Pernambuco Civil Police with support from Pará and Gaeco, follows the arrest of Renato Henrique do Carmo, a suspected PCC leader. Evidence of the connection was uncovered through judicial authorization to analyze data from Carmo’s seized mobile phone. The operation aims to dismantle the group's financial structure, which has reportedly moved over R$ 14 million.

In addition to the current corruption allegations, records show that Pinto was previously investigated regarding the 2003 death of her former partner, a police inspector, in Belém. However, she was acquitted by a jury in 2010 after the Public Ministry requested her acquittal due to insufficient evidence.
