Marta Bosquet proposed as Andalusian Ombudsman

In Andalusia, political shifts are occurring across several sectors. President Juanma Moreno has proposed Marta Bosquet as the new Defensor del Pueblo Andaluz. Bosquet, a former President of the Andalusian Parliament, is expected to be the first woman to hold the position. Her appointment follows the expiration of Jesús Maeztu’s mandate in September 2024; Maeztu has been serving in an interim capacity and has expressed a desire for a consensus-based successor.

In the electoral arena, Adelante Andalucía held a Municipalist Conference in Seville, positioning itself as a ‘useful vote’ to counter the PP and Vox in upcoming general and municipal elections. The party aims to attract voters who feel disillusioned with the PSOE.

Other regional developments include the PAR party in Aragon considering a coalition with the PP for the November 29 general elections to avoid vote fragmentation. In Asturias, PSOE candidate Roberto García Morís defended the direct designation of Adriana Lastra for the congressional list. Additionally, the Junta de Andalucía announced plans to demolish an abandoned union building in Córdoba to make way for a new Servicio Andaluz de Empleo (SAE) office.
