Pará towns host summer sports tournaments in Marabá and Marituba

The first edition of the Summer Table Tennis Tournament was held on 27 July 2026 at the Ginásio Dequinha in Marabá, Pará. Organized by the Associação Mesatenista de Marabá, the event attracted about 60 players aged 12 to 65 from several municipalities in Pará as well as from Imperatriz (MA) and Boa Vista (RR). Prize money ranged from R$150 to R$250 per category. Vice‑president of the Pará Table Tennis Federation Márcio da Silva Ribeiro said the tournament responded to demand for competition during the school holidays, while local star Cássio Deleone Souza Leandro emphasized the need for greater public support.

From 22 to 24 July 2026, Marituba hosted the second Arena Verão, a three‑day multi‑sport tournament organized by the municipal Sports, Leisure and Tourism department (SEMELTUR). Competitions included men’s and women’s beach soccer, beach volleyball and, for the first time, the traditional street sport queimada. The team Pedreira Forever, captained by Fredson Oliveira, won the queimada title. Secretary Joaquim Morais highlighted the event’s role in promoting physical activity, social inclusion and community cohesion in the municipality.
