Para Plantage Museum officially opens in Suriname
The Para Plantage Museum has officially opened in the Para district of Suriname, aiming to bolster historical and cultural tourism. The opening ceremony was attended by Minister of Transport, Communication, and Tourism Raymond Landveld and Acting Director of Tourism Liola Tamin.
The museum focuses on documenting and preserving Surinamese history, specifically regarding plantation history, the legacy of slavery, and the cultural identity of local communities. Minister Landveld emphasized the importance of making these ancestral stories accessible to future generations to foster historical awareness.
By providing a dedicated space for cultural heritage, the museum is expected to serve an educational role for students and residents while expanding the district's appeal as a destination for cultural tourism.
