Para Triathlon World Championships: Schulz and Frühwirth secure podium finishes
At the Para Triathlon World Championships in Pontevedra, Spain, several athletes secured podium finishes across different classifications.
In the sprint triathlon, German athlete Martin Schulz earned the silver medal with a time of 1:00:22. Schulz, a former Paralympic champion, recovered from a fifth-place position after the swimming leg to secure second place, finishing 16 seconds behind American Chris Hammer. Portuguese athlete Filipe Marques took third.
In the PTWC class sprint distance, Thomas Frühwirth successfully defended his title to win gold with a time of 1:02:33. Despite experiencing a tire defect during the race, Frühwirth maintained his lead. Austrian athlete Florian Brungraber secured the silver medal with a time of 1:03:28, followed by France's Joseph Fritsch in third place.
