Parañaque City plebiscite ratifies boundary changes for five coastal barangays
Voters in Parañaque City, Philippines, approved an ordinance that re‑defines the territorial boundaries of five coastal barangays—Baclaran, Tambo, Don Galo, La Huerta and San Dionisio. Official results released by the Commission on Elections showed 11,597 votes in favour and 2,254 against, with 13,873 of the 79,251 registered voters casting ballots. The plebiscite set a record for the fastest canvassing, with the Certificate of Canvass and proclamation issued within six hours of poll closure.
Election Officer Nesrin Cali highlighted the teamwork that made the vote possible, praising Parañaque City government personnel, especially Special Services Office head Eva Nono, for transforming the Parañaque Coliseum into a fully functional canvassing centre in less than a month. Cali described election staff as "event organizers, coordinators, logisticians, and problem‑solvers" who ensured poll workers were fed, security and traffic plans were in place, and voting venues were ready.
