Brazil prison systems undergo security operations and structural reviews

Security operations and administrative reviews are underway across several Brazilian prison systems. In Paraíba, a large-scale operation at the Silvio Porto Penitentiary involving over 100 penal officers led to the seizure of 42 cell phones, narcotics, and various prohibited items. Additionally, the Public Ministry of Paraíba has launched an investigation into the criteria used to separate inmates by criminal faction affiliation to ensure prisoner integrity.

In Rondônia, penal police have intensified inspections at strategic units, including the Jorge Thiago Aguiar Afonso Penitentiary, utilizing technology and canine units to combat irregularities. Meanwhile, in Goiás, judicial officials conducted an institutional visit to the Daniella Cruvinel Prison Complex to evaluate advancements in security, infrastructure, and inmate resocialization programs.

In Paraíba, the Court of Accounts (TCE-PB) has institutionalized the LiberTCE program, a permanent initiative aimed at promoting literacy and education within the prison system to aid reintegration.
