Brazil's São João 2026 holiday prompts closures, weather alerts and health services

Banking branches of Banese in Sergipe will be closed on 24 June in municipalities where the São João holiday is observed; normal service resumes on 25 June. Municipal offices in Sorriso (Mato Grande do Sul) and Penedo (Alagoas) also remain closed on their respective holiday dates, with essential services such as emergency health, police and waste collection continuing.

The state of Paraíba’s meteorological service forecasts cloudy conditions and isolated rain for the São João period (23‑24 June), with temperatures ranging from the low‑teens to low‑30s°C across regions including the coastal zone, Agreste and Sertão.

A mobile medical post operated by the Hospital Regional Deputado Janduhy Carneiro in Patos provided 57 urgent care attendances during the first three days of the festival, aiming to ensure rapid treatment for festival‑goers.

The Paraíba Hemorrede network announced a special schedule for blood and marrow‑donor collections: most centers open from 7 a.m. to noon on 22‑23 June, limited service on 23 June, closed on the holiday 24 June, and full operations resuming on 25 June.
