Inmet issues yellow rain and wind alerts for Paraíba, Bahia and Paraná

The National Institute of Meteorology (Inmet) issued yellow alerts for intense rain in Brazil's northeast and for strong winds in the south. In Paraíba, the alert covers between 70 and 86 municipalities, forecasting up to 50 mm of rain per day and winds of 40‑60 km/h, with a low risk of flooding or landslides. In Bahia, 38 cities, including Salvador and its metropolitan area, were placed under a yellow rain alert with similar precipitation limits and minimal flood risk. In Paraná, two yellow alerts were released: one for storms and possible hail across the western and southwestern regions, and another for strong winds that could reach 100 km/h in the west, with gusts of 60 km/h elsewhere. Inmet advises residents to avoid standing under trees, refrain from using electrical appliances while storms persist, and follow local civil‑defence guidance.

These coordinated warnings aim to reduce exposure to hazardous weather conditions across the affected states and to prompt precautionary actions among the population.
