Paraíba Governor Lucas Ribeiro Secures Coalition Backing Ahead of 2026 Election
The Federation Renovação Solidária, formed by the parties PRD and Solidariedade, formally endorsed Governor Lucas Ribeiro (Progressistas) for re‑election as governor of Paraíba. At a state convention, Ribeiro highlighted recent achievements such as the construction of three new hospitals, the completion of the Ponte do Futuro, and the expansion of health and infrastructure projects, and he stressed the importance of women’s participation in government.
The same coalition also announced support for former governor João Azevêdo (PSB) in his bid for the Senate, noting his record on security, education and health. Additionally, the party signaled that former environment secretary Rafaela Camaraense is being considered for the vice‑governor slot on the ticket headed by Ribeiro.
Senator and gubernatorial candidate Efraim Filho (PL) later accused Ribeiro of copying his campaign colour and slogan, claiming the similarity could confuse voters. The coalition’s unified front underscores its strategy to maintain political dominance in Paraíba ahead of the 2026 elections.
