Paraíba court proposes R$ 740,000 fine for former Boa Vista mayor

The State Court of Accounts of Paraíba (TCE-PB) is reviewing an inspection regarding the management of former mayor Talita Lopes Arruda in Boa Vista between 2021 and 2024. The Public Prosecutor's Office of Accounts (MPC) has recommended that the former mayor be held liable for R$ 740,041.84 due to irregularities.

Auditors identified over R$ 517,000 held in cash within the municipal treasury. The report notes that technical teams faced difficulties accessing the municipal safe, requiring police intervention and a court order to force entry after being blocked for over 24 hours. Additionally, the audit flagged R$ 726,501.91 in expenses that lacked sufficient documentation, as well as instances of blank signed checks and losses resulting from the failure to invest cash held in the treasury.
