Paraíba Electoral Court fines Nabor Wanderley and Lucas Ribeiro

The Paraíba Electoral Court has imposed fines exceeding R$ 5,000 on Senate pre-candidate Nabor Wanderley and Governor Lucas Ribeiro for improper use of an official ceremony in an electoral context.

The ruling stems from Wanderley’s participation in a formal military ceremony for the Military Police and Fire Department in João Pessoa. The court determined that Wanderley’s placement on the honor roll alongside the Governor and military authorities constituted prohibited conduct for the 2026 elections.

Furthermore, the judge ruled that the subsequent use of images from the event on Wanderley’s social media for pre-campaign purposes provided an unfair electoral advantage and compromised equality among candidates. The court also held Governor Lucas Ribeiro responsible, stating he was aware of and consented to the pre-candidate’s protocol presence at the official event. The decision includes a definitive order for Wanderley to remove the social media posts related to the ceremony.
