Brazil marks National Day of Struggle for Persons with Disabilities

Brazil is observing the National Day of Struggle for Persons with Disabilities on September 21, marked by various regional and national initiatives focused on rights, accessibility, and inclusion.

In several municipalities, employment opportunities are being prioritized. A job fair in Paraíba is offering over 700 vacancies in João Pessoa and Campina Grande, while Paranavaí is hosting a recruitment event with over 60 positions. Pinhais is also offering exclusive technical and medium-level roles.

Institutional and educational advancements are also underway. The Ministry of Education, in partnership with Capes, has opened applications for the Observatory of Inclusive Special Education (Obeduc-EI) to monitor national policies. In Ubatuba, a new municipal secretariat is conducting a census to better direct public policies.

Cultural representation is being highlighted by TV Globo, which will broadcast the documentary ‘Assexybilidade’ as part of its ‘Falas de Acesso’ project. The film explores the sexuality and autonomy of people with disabilities to challenge common stereotypes.
