Paraíba football expands with new amateur and professional tournaments
Football activities are expanding in Paraíba with the return of major regional competitions. The Torneio de Acesso, part of the Copa João Pessoa amateur football tournament, begins this Monday at the Arena da Graça. Eight teams are competing for the final four spots in the 17th edition of the Copa João Pessoa, with matches organized by the João Pessoa City Hall.
Additionally, the Copa Paraíba is set to return to the state football calendar after a 14-year hiatus. Scheduled for late 2026, the tournament will feature six elite teams from the Campeonato Paraibano, including Atlético-PB, Campinense, Esporte de Patos, Nacional de Patos, Serra Branca, and Treze. The winner of the competition will secure a spot in the 2027 Copa do Brasil.
