Paraíba hosts coordinators from 16 Brazilian states to showcase craft program

On Monday, 13 March, coordinators of the Brazilian Artisan Program from 16 states arrived in João Pessoa, Paraíba, to observe the methodology of the state’s artisan initiative (PAP). During the visit they toured the Centro de Referência do Artesanato Paraibano (CRAP) and Labin, the competitive craft development lab.

The delegation, which includes representatives from Alagoas, Maranhão, Rio Grande do Norte, Sergipe, Piauí, Amapá, Pará, Acre, Amazonas, Distrito Federal, Goiás, Tocantins, Mato Grande, Santa Catarina and Roraima, is also attending the 26th National Craft Business Fair (Fenearte) in Olinda, Pernambuco, running through Sunday, 19 March. First‑lady Camila Mariz, honorary president of PAP, highlighted the exchange as a valuable sharing of experiences. Program manager Marielza Rodriguez praised the opportunity for inter‑state learning, noting it will generate positive outcomes.

Among the visitors were Ana Beatriz Allery (director of Brazilian Crafts), Janete Macedo (national coordinator of Crafts), Ana Beatriz Athayde (technical staff), and Janete Rodriguez (curation president). The event underscores the role of the PAP in strengthening artisanal policies that foster inclusion and income generation across Brazil.
