Paraíba hosts various cinema festivals and screenings in September
The state of Paraíba is hosting various cinematic events throughout September 2026. In Sumé, the VI Mostra Sumé de Cinema will take place from September 8 to 12. The festival features film screenings, audiovisual training, debates, and activities spanning music, visual arts, and literature. The program aims to democratize access to audiovisual production and includes sessions in diverse locations such as schools, universities, and local hospitals.
A central theme of the Sumé festival is the preservation of cultural memory, specifically regarding street cinemas. A debate scheduled for September 11 will discuss the historical importance of these spaces, inspired by the Cine Teatro Municipal de Sumé, which has served as a cultural hub since the 1950s.
In João Pessoa, Cine Banguê has announced its September programming, which includes a 4K remastered screening of the Japanese animation classic ‘Akira’. The lineup features a mix of international films, such as ‘A Divina Sarah Bernhardt’, and Brazilian productions like ‘Muito Prazer’. Additionally, the ‘Curta Banguê III’ showcase will run every Wednesday, offering free screenings of short films from Paraíba filmmakers.
