Paraíba infrastructure project advances with R$ 500 million roadway complex

Construction is advancing on the ‘Ponte do Futuro’ in Paraíba, a R$ 500 million infrastructure project designed to transform the road network in the Brazilian Northeast. The project, which is approximately 60% complete, is expected to be delivered in 2026.

Rather than a single bridge, the development is a roadway complex consisting of two bridges, a viaduct, and new highway sections. The main 2.1-kilometer structure will connect BR-230 in Cabedelo to BR-101 North, while a second 420-meter bridge will be built over the Rio da Guia in Lucena.

The project aims to improve mobility between the municipalities of Cabedelo, Santa Rita, and Lucena, facilitating movement toward the North Coast of Paraíba. Additionally, the complex is intended to optimize logistics for the Port of Cabedelo by providing an alternative route for heavy cargo vehicles, potentially reducing travel times and diverting heavy traffic away from urbanized areas.
