Bamor fan group leaders arrested in Bahia torture investigation

The Public Prosecutor's Office of Bahia (MP-BA) has launched an operation in Salvador targeting the leadership of Bamor, the primary organized supporter group for Esporte Clube Bahia. The investigation follows reports of torture occurring within the group's headquarters in July.

Ten individuals have been arrested, including the group's president, Matheus Castro, and vice-president, Luciano Venâncio. Authorities also identified a military police soldier among those investigated. The operation involved 10 arrest warrants and 15 search and seizure warrants.

According to investigators, at least two victims were subjected to hours of physical and psychological violence, including beatings, suffocation, and simulated drowning, using objects such as baseball bats, hammers, and knives. The victims were allegedly pressured to confess to supposed financial irregularities. The investigation is also examining charges of robbery, extortion, threat, and criminal association.
