Paraíba promotes quantum computing and astronomy through Expotec and public exhibits
The 12th edition of Expotec, a technology, innovation, and digital culture fair, is being held in João Pessoa, Paraíba. Organized by the National Association for Digital Inclusion (Anid) and the Government of Paraíba through the Secretariat of Science, Technology, Innovation, and Higher Education (Secties), the event focuses on 'Quantum Technologies and the Challenges for Technological Sovereignty'.
As part of the event, the public can access free sessions from a Mobile Planetarium and specialized cinema presentations designed to explain quantum computing in an accessible way. These activities are part of the 'Astronomy City' project.
Additionally, the Government of Paraíba is offering free, scheduled visits to a replica of a quantum computer located at the Horizontes de Inovação Technology Park in João Pessoa. This exhibit serves as a precursor to the inauguration of CIQUANTA (International Center for Quantum Computing and Technologies) in December. CIQUANTA is set to become Brazil's first international center dedicated to operational quantum computing, aiming to integrate advanced scientific infrastructure with research and industrial development.
