Paraíba Prosecutor's Office files second indictment against police officials in drug diversion scheme

The Public Prosecutor's Office of Paraíba (MPPB) filed a second indictment on 3 May against police delegate Braz Morroni and civil police agents Everton Aires and Eduardo Jorge for participation in a drug‑diversion operation. The new complaint adds six alleged accomplices – José Alexandrino de Lira Júnior, João Victor Alves de Lima, Brendo Roberth Fernandes Sobral, Paulo Ricardo Barbosa de Souza, among others – and charges them with drug trafficking, association for trafficking, qualified theft, abuse of authority, document falsification and procedural fraud.

The Gaeco‑PB (Specialized Group for Combating Organized Crime) seeks the permanent loss of the officers’ civil‑police positions, confiscation of all assets, and a minimum moral‑damage payment of R$ 1 million. Defendants’ legal representatives have not responded to the prosecutor’s outreach.
