Brazil health services report advancements in organ transplants and blood donation campaigns

Various regions in Brazil are reporting significant developments in organ transplantation and blood donation efforts. In Goiás, the Hospital Estadual Dr. Alberto Rassi (HGG) has reached a milestone of 1,500 transplants performed since 2017, establishing itself as a major center in the Midwest. Additionally, the Military Police of Goiás (Graer) utilized a helicopter to transport a liver for transplant in Goiânia.

In Paraíba, the state's Transplant Center recorded its seventh heart donation of the year, a procedure that also included the donation of kidneys and corneas. This follows a trend of increasing multi-organ donations in the region.

Blood donation drives are also active across several states. In Rio de Janeiro, the Military Firefighters (CBMERJ) launched a campaign to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Civil Defense through blood collection. In Tocantins, the Super Servidor project has collected 337 blood bags since 2022. Meanwhile, health authorities in Paraná and Bahia are issuing guidance and organizing weekend collection events to maintain adequate blood and bone marrow stocks.
