Jorginho Mello leads Santa Catarina polls for governorship
Recent Quaest polling data for the Santa Catarina elections indicates a strong position for incumbent Governor Jorginho Mello (PL). Mello holds 54% of the voting intentions for the governorship, a four-point increase from August, placing him within reach of a first-round victory. His main challengers, João Rodrigues (PSD) at 13% and Gelson Merisio (PSB) at 10%, are currently in a technical tie. Mello’s administration also maintains a 73% approval rating among voters.
The race for the two Senate seats in the state is highly fragmented and competitive. Carol de Toni (PL) leads with 17% of the vote, followed closely by Carlos Bolsonaro (PL) at 16% and Esperidião Amin (PP) at 15%. These three candidates are in a technical tie within the three-point margin of error. Décio Lima (PT) follows with 10%.
In the gubernatorial campaign, tensions have risen as Jorginho Mello utilized television advertisements to reference the 2018 arrest of opponent João Rodrigues. Rodrigues has responded by criticizing the governor's tactics and questioning the ethics of the campaign.
