Paracatu to host UNESCO-linked Futures Literacy Laboratory
The Futures Literacy Laboratory will be held in Paracatu from August 20 to 22, serving as the opening event for the III Paracatu Cultural Economy Seminar – Perspectives on the Future. The initiative is part of the UNESCO Chair on Planetary Well-being and Regenerative Anticipation, which is linked to the Museu do Amanhã and the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ).
Researcher Anna Carolina Fornero Aguiar, a professor at PUC-Rio, explains that the laboratory aims to foster collective intelligence rather than predicting a single outcome. The three-day experience invites participants to imagine various potential futures for Paracatu to better understand how current values, fears, and assumptions influence present-day decision-making.
