Paradise Lost film sells to 118 territories, exceeding production costs

The psychological thriller ‘Paradise Lost’, directed by Yeon Sang-ho (known for ‘Train to Busan’), has achieved significant international commercial success. Distributor CJ ENM announced that international sales revenue for the film has already exceeded its net production budget after selling rights to 118 territories worldwide.

Following sold-out screenings at the Toronto and Busan International Film Festivals, the film is set to have its U.S. premiere at the 46th Hawaii International Film Festival in the ‘Spotlight on Korea’ section. The film is scheduled for theatrical release in South Korea on October 21, 2026.

Starring Kim Hyun-joo and Bae Hyeon-seong, the story follows a mother whose son, presumed dead after a camping bus disappearance nine years prior, suddenly returns. The film has received varied critical responses, with some praising its emotional weight and others noting limitations in its genre blending.
