Accidents and emergencies reported in Portugal and Brazil

Various accidents and incidents involving emergency services and outdoor activities have been reported in Portugal and Brazil.

In Portugal, the Regimento de Sapadores Bombeiros de Lisboa announced the death of Subchefe João Figueiredo, a 46-year-old instructor and operative, following a tragic accident. Additionally, a fire at the Centro Paroquial de Promoção Social e Cultural de Darque in Viana do Castelo forced the evacuation of 75 elderly residents to a nearby nursery; no injuries were reported. In another incident, a vehicle crashed and caught fire on the EN114-2 between Setil and Cartaxo, though the driver escaped without serious injury.

In Brazil, a paramotor pilot was rescued after becoming stuck in a tree at Serra do Corvo Branco, Santa Catarina, following a failed maneuver near a rock cleft. In a separate fatal incident in Sapiranga, dentist Cleberson Luis Maia Vieira, 52, died after his paraglider collapsed due to wind turbulence, causing him to fall onto the pavement.
