Paragliding crash in Cauca, Colombia kills two participants
A woman and a male instructor were killed when their paraglider collapsed during a flight in the Farallones area near Piendamó, Cauca Department, Colombia. The accident occurred on 29 July 2026, and both victims – identified as Mary Inés Ussa and Jhon Javier Zúñiga – were taken to a local hospital where they were pronounced dead. Local authorities opened a technical investigation to determine whether equipment failure, human error or sudden gusts caused the loss of control that sent the paraglider into a mountainside. Police have opened a case file and forensic experts will examine the wreckage and medical records to establish the cause of the tragedy.
