Paraguay advances bill for 50% transport discount for catastrophic disease patients
The Commission for the Defense of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in the Chamber of Deputies has issued a favorable report on a bill proposing a 50% discount on land transportation fares for individuals suffering from catastrophic diseases.
According to the National Cancer Institute (INCAN), many patients must travel regularly from the interior of the country to reach specialized medical centers. The project aims to reduce economic barriers that prevent timely and continuous access to essential treatments such as chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and dialysis.
The proposed measure seeks to balance patient support with the economic sustainability of the public transportation system. This legislative step allows the project to proceed with further processing within the Chamber of Deputies.
