Paraguay and Honduras implement new financial oversight measures
In Paraguay, the Public Prosecutor's Office has signed a cooperation agreement with major banking associations, including ASOBAN and ABAFI, to streamline access to financial information. Through a new “Protocolo de Solicitud de Información,” specialized units investigating economic crimes, corruption, drug trafficking, organized crime, and cybercrime can now request data from financial institutions via secure electronic channels. This mechanism is designed to reduce response times and improve the traceability of investigations.
In Honduras, the Ministry of Finance and the Superior Court of Accounts (TSC) have entered into an agreement to enable concurrent oversight of public resources. Finance Minister Emilio Hernández Hércules stated that the pact allows the TSC to monitor the movement of public funds in real-time rather than solely through post-hoc reviews. The initiative aims to strengthen transparency and public accountability regarding the use of tax revenue.
