Paraguay and Peru show economic and reputational gains in Latin America
Paraguay and Peru have demonstrated significant improvements in their economic and reputational standing within Latin America.
In terms of country risk, Paraguay recorded 107 points as of August 2026, placing it among the lowest-risk economies in the region. This represents an improvement from the previous year and places the nation just one point above Peru. The broader region also saw a compression of sovereign premiums, with notable reductions in risk levels for Brazil, Mexico, Colombia, Guatemala, Bolivia, and Argentina.
Separately, Peru has climbed to 25th place in the RepCore® Nations 2026 study by Reputation Lab, making it the highest-ranked nation in Latin America for global reputation. Peru's score of 53.2 points exceeds the average of the 60 economies evaluated. The report highlights that while 43 of the analyzed economies saw a decline in reputation, Peru increased its score, driven by positive perceptions of its culture, gastronomy, and natural environment.
