Paraguay attracts USD 200 million forestry investment
Paraguay is attracting significant international interest due to its macroeconomic stability, low tax burden, and strategic position as an export platform. During the Paraguay Investment Forum in New York, President Santiago Peña announced a USD 200 million investment to develop a large-scale sustainable forestry platform.
The project, a partnership between J.P. Morgan Natural Capital and Grupo Robinson, is scheduled to begin capital deployment in early 2027. It aims to establish commercial forests across approximately 20,000 hectares, restore native forests, and generate high-quality carbon credits. A key goal of the initiative is to move beyond primary production by industrializing wood processing within Paraguay to create higher value-added products for international markets.
Industry leaders and executives have highlighted Paraguay’s competitive advantages, including abundant hydroelectric energy, available land, and a small state structure that facilitates private sector participation. The forestry sector was presented as a world-class investment opportunity, focusing on long-term sustainable growth and rural employment.
