Paraguay sees growth in capital markets and agricultural exports
Paraguay is experiencing significant growth in its capital markets and agricultural export sectors. A report from J.P. Morgan highlights increasing international visibility for the country's private capital market, noting a rise in investment funds and mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Average M&A transaction sizes have grown from approximately USD 10 million a decade ago to roughly USD 50 million today, with some reaching USD 200 million.
In the agricultural sector, peanut exports are transitioning from a secondary crop to a major export commodity. Between January and August, exports reached approximately USD 21 million, surpassing previous annual totals. This growth is supported by new industrialization efforts, including the construction of a processing plant to expand capacity. Additionally, the beef sector continues to show strength, with September recording a new record in average export value and increased shipments to the United States.
Experts from CADIEM note that macroeconomic stability, improved institutions, and professionalization are converging to allow Paraguay to enter the radar of international investors who were previously restricted by policy.
