Paraguay authorities detain two women for smuggling macaw eggs

Two Malaysian women were detained at Silvio Pettirossi International Airport in Paraguay while attempting to smuggle 45 suspected macaw eggs to Bangkok, Thailand.

Authorities seized the eggs along with electronic devices, including what appeared to be a portable incubator. The eggs have been transferred to a wildlife facility in San Bernardino under the Ministry of Environment and Sustainable Development (MADES) to be incubated and to confirm their species.

The suspects are currently held by airport security and face potential charges related to environmental and wildlife protection laws. Forensic experts will examine the seized electronic devices to extract data as part of the investigation.
