Jonathan Yera Pozo arrested in Punta Cana in international drug ring bust
In a major international law enforcement action known as Operation Fast Lap, authorities have dismantled a transnational criminal network involved in drug trafficking and money laundering. A central figure in the operation, 41-year-old Spanish national Jonathan Yera Pozo, was arrested in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Pozo is accused of leading an organization that laundered proceeds from cocaine trafficking through luxury real estate investments in Spain.
The operation involved coordinated efforts between the Dominican Republic, Spain, the United States (DEA), and Europol. Investigations revealed the network utilized maritime containers to transport cocaine from Colombia and Panama to Europe. The crackdown resulted in 27 arrests in Spain and one in the Dominican Republic. During searches, authorities seized various assets, including high-end watches, cryptocurrency cold wallets, luxury vehicles, and significant amounts of cash.
Separate but related anti-narcotics efforts were reported across the region. In Paraguay, authorities seized over 20 kilograms of cocaine paste in Mariscal Estigarribia. In Panama, 210 packages of suspected drugs were intercepted at a port in Colón. Additionally, Colombian authorities reported significant successes, including the seizure of 2,860 kilograms of cocaine and the arrest of members of the Clan del Golfo and other criminal groups.
