Paraguay celebrates Guaraní Language Day

Paraguay celebrates Guaraní Language Day on August 25, marking the date in 1967 when the language gained legal status. The 1992 Constitution further established Guaraní as an official language alongside Spanish, mandating its teaching in schools.

While the language has deep ancestral roots and played a vital role in historical conflicts like the Chaco War, it faces modern challenges. Experts note a decline in its use within domestic and family settings.
