Paraguay construction sector faces material shortages after storms
Recent severe storms and hail in Asunción and the Central Department of Paraguay have triggered a surge in demand for construction materials, particularly ceramic roof tiles. The weather damage to residential properties has left distributors and manufacturers struggling to keep up with the sudden need for repairs.
Ceramic factories are reportedly exhausting their inventories and limiting supplies to distributors. Business owners, such as Roberto Cristaldo of the construction material company Ángel David in San Lorenzo, have noted that current orders are facing delivery delays of between 8 and 15 days due to widespread shortages.
There are growing concerns regarding a critical supply shortage in the coming days. Meteorological forecasts predicting a prolonged rainy season pose a dual threat: they maintain high demand for home repairs while simultaneously hindering production at pottery workshops and ceramic factories due to adverse weather conditions.
