Paraguay Credit Card Users Double as Global Custody Services Market Anticipates Continued Growth
Paraguay saw a rapid expansion in credit‑card adoption between May 2024 and May 2026. The number of individuals holding at least one card rose from 688,067 to 1,569,790, a 128 % increase and an addition of 881,723 new users, driven chiefly by low‑limit cards (under G 3 million) where user numbers jumped 193 %. Average balances per holder fell 28.5 %, while total credit‑card balances grew to around G 7 trillion, representing less than 4 % of the country’s overall credit, with no rise in delinquency rates.
The global market for custody services is also projected to keep expanding through 2035. Industry analysis highlights that technological advances, shifting consumer preferences, and evolving regulations are reshaping the sector. Leading banks such as the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China, HSBC Holdings, Northern Trust and others are investing in new products and regional expansion, positioning the market for sustained growth over the forecast period.
