Latin American economic trends show growth in agriculture and liquidity
Economic indicators across Paraguay, Bolivia, and Ecuador show varied trends in agriculture and finance.
In Paraguay, the economy grew 5.7% through August 2026, driven by the secondary sector and services. While the primary sector saw a monthly contraction due to lower yields in corn and wheat, soybean production remains a strong driver. The country also recorded a trade surplus of USD 712 million through September, bolstered by a 45.1% increase in soybean exports. In the Chaco region, soybean cultivation area is projected to grow by 10% to 20% for the 2026/27 campaign due to favorable moisture levels.
In Bolivia, the oilseed complex (soy and sunflower) is positioned to potentially double its export value to over USD 2 billion, provided the government improves conditions regarding biotechnology access and export freedom. Additionally, the National Institute of Statistics is coordinating with agricultural organizations for the 2026 Agricultural Census.
In Ecuador, economic liquidity reached a historic USD 104,713 million in August 2026, a 9.1% annual increase. This growth was fueled by an 11.9% rise in household deposits and a 16.7% expansion in productive credit.
