Mexico authorizes Paraguayan beef exports
Mexico has officially authorized the import of beef from Paraguay, marking a strategic milestone for the Paraguayan livestock industry. Following technical evaluations and sanitary audits conducted by Mexico’s Senasica, ten Paraguayan meatpacking plants have been cleared to begin exports.
This authorization allows Paraguay to complete sanitary access to all three North American markets under the USMCA framework, having previously secured access to the United States and Canada. North America already accounts for approximately 25% of Paraguay’s beef export volume, generating significant revenue through established trade with the U.S. and Canada.
The Mexican market, which has a population exceeding 120 million, represents a major opportunity for diversification. While the sanitary approval does not guarantee specific purchase volumes, it provides Paraguayan producers with a new destination to complement their existing global trade routes.
