Paraguay hosts Freedom 250 sculpture competition
The Paraguayan American Cultural Center (CCPA), sponsored by the United States Embassy in Paraguay, has opened applications for the ‘Freedom 250’ sculpture prize. The competition commemorates the 250th anniversary of United States independence.
The contest seeks a monumental figurative sculpture to be permanently installed in the Costanera Norte area of Asunción. The winning design must reflect values of liberty, democracy, and innovation, while honoring the historical ties between Paraguay and the United States in culture, science, and economy.
Eligible participants include Paraguayan artists or residents of at least five years who are over 18. The selected artist will receive a prize of USD 6,500 for the design and full execution of the work. Submissions must use weather-resistant materials such as concrete, iron, stone, marble, or treated wood and must be submitted under a pseudonym to ensure impartial judging. Digital registrations are open until October 30.
