Paraguay hosts VII International Summit of Indigenous Women of Abya Yala
The VII International Summit of Indigenous Women of Abya Yala is being held in Asunción, Paraguay, from October 15 to 20. Hosted at the Centro Cultural del Puerto, the event brings together women from various peoples and territories across nine American countries.
Under the theme ‘Ñandereko Arandu: Living from Wisdom’, the summit serves as a platform for sharing experiences of struggle and building a collective agenda to address threats to indigenous communities, bodies, and territories. The program includes dialogues, cultural activities, and the Youth Assembly of the Abya Yala Indigenous Coordinator.
The event is organized by the Organization of Peasant and Indigenous Women (Conamuri) of Paraguay, with support from the National Secretariat of Culture, the National Secretariat of Tourism, and the Secretariat of Linguistic Policies. Participants aim to transform local experiences into collective strength to combat issues such as territorial dispossession, racism, and violence.
