Paraguay increases agricultural fairs to support potato and onion production

Paraguay is experiencing an increase in the production of potatoes and onions, leading the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG) to suspend import permits for these products to support local farmers. Harvesting has commenced in both the Chaco and the Oriental Region.

To facilitate the sale of these goods, MAG plans to intensify agricultural fairs, including a major event in San Lorenzo, to connect small-scale family farmers directly with consumers. In the Caaguazú department, producing families have already successfully commercialized 10,000 kilograms of onions through strategies designed to reduce reliance on intermediaries and improve rural incomes.
