Paraguay Launches Asunción 500 Years Forum to Plan Historic Center Revitalization

The Government of Paraguay announced the international "Asunción 500 Años" forum, scheduled for 13 August at the Centro Cultural del Puerto in Asunción. First Lady Leticia Ocampos highlighted the event as an opportunity to create a sustainable urban revitalization agenda for the city’s historic centre, coinciding with the capital’s 500‑year anniversary.

The four‑hour public meeting will bring together national authorities, municipal officials, multilateral organisations, private‑sector representatives, civil‑society groups and urban‑development experts. Panels will address the reconversion of the historic centre, housing and repopulation strategies, tourism, security, cultural heritage, private investment and citizen participation, aiming to produce concrete policies and projects that extend beyond the commemorative celebrations.
