Paraguay Ministry of Education increases academic title controls

The Ministry of Education and Sciences (MEC) has announced the implementation of stricter controls and verification steps for academic title validation. This measure follows investigations and allegations regarding the legitimacy of academic documentation.

To ensure transparency and security, the MEC is coordinating with the Public Ministry and the Comptroller General of the Republic to conduct audits and internal reviews. The ministry stated that the goal is to protect the rights of legitimate students and prevent unfair competition from those using invalid documentation.

As a result of these enhanced procedures, temporary delays may occur in various administrative processes, including professional educator registration, teacher salary scale updates, and documentary certifications. The MEC has requested patience from the public while technical teams work to complete the necessary reviews.
