Paraguay President Santiago Peña meets US antisemitism envoy

Paraguayan President Santiago Peña met with Rabbi Yehuda Kaploun, the United States Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Antisemitism, at the Government Palace. The meeting included Paraguay's Foreign Minister Rubén Ramírez and the US Chargé d'Affaires, Robert Alter.

The officials discussed bilateral cooperation programs and global challenges regarding the eradication of discrimination. President Peña reaffirmed Paraguay's commitment to combating antisemitism and its close alliance with Israel.

Paraguay recently began the process to join the International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance (IHRA) as an observer country. Additionally, the administration previously moved its embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in December 2024 to strengthen ties with Israel.
