Paraguay promotes cultural industries to drive economic growth

Paraguayan Minister of Industry and Commerce, Marco Riquelme, highlighted the potential of national cultural and creative industries to open new markets, strengthen tourism, and consolidate the country's brand globally. During the launch of Cultural Industries Week, Riquelme noted that sectors such as music, audiovisual arts, design, fashion, video games, and gastronomy allow Paraguay to showcase its unique identity and talent to the world.

To support this growth, the government aims to strengthen financing, intellectual property protection, and market formalization. A key upcoming milestone is the hosting of the Mercado de Industrias Culturales del Sur (MICSUR) in 2026, which is expected to position Paraguay as a regional platform for business exchange and networking. Additionally, Paraguay will assume the pro tempore presidency of the Ibero-American Brand Forum.

In a related cultural event, Asunción hosted the 3rd RIMEL International Summit, focusing on the circular economy. The summit featured Paraguayan talent in fashion, theater, and music, and included an honorary cultural distinction for actress and model Rocío Riquelme.
