Paraguay proposes $20 million annual fund for National Fire Service

The Authentic Radical Liberal Party (PLRA) is promoting a legislative project to establish a dedicated funding regime for Paraguay’s National Fire Service. The proposal suggests an annual fund of $20 million to provide budgetary stability and institutional strengthening.

Senator Eduardo Nakayama highlighted the current state of extreme precariousness within the service, noting that firefighters often lack adequate equipment and vehicles. The proposed funding aims to move the service away from a dependence on irregular donations and toward a permanent public policy, improving response capabilities for forest fires and traffic accidents in the Chaco and Oriental regions.
